  • Calvin is State Code Certified by the International Code Council as a Certified Residential Combination Inspector under the International Residential Code for 1 and 2 family dwellings. The 4 exams Calvin passed to achieve this certification were: Building, Electrical, Plumbing, and Mechanical. Thirty-three states, including Indiana, and parts of 12 other states, have adopted the IRC for 1 and 2 family dwellings. This certification is above and beyond the requirements of a State Licensed Home Inspector. Besides whole house inspections for real estate transactions, he conducts limited or comprehensive inspections for existing homeowners, as well as new construction/remodeling inspections for clients, and all environmental inspections as well (www.iccsafe.org).
  • Calvin has an extensive background, with 27 years of remodeling, troubleshooting, and repairing in all phases of home construction in Kosciusko County, IN. He has completed well over 10,000 jobs during those 27 years. He has seen thousands of conditions that cause problems with homes, many caused by some form of moisture intrusion.
  • He is a member of the Indiana Builders Association Codes Committee in Indianapolis.
  • He is 1 of 8 voting members, representing the Indiana Builders Association, on the Indiana Residential Code REVIEW Commitee, which is amending the 2009 Edition of the International Residential Code for 1 and 2 Family Dwellings for the State of Indiana.   • He has gone through training and testing at Ball State University, and holds 3 licenses, issued from IDEM for asbestos inspection, lead paint inspection, and lead paint risk assessor.
  • He is a graduate of Inspectors Training Associates, which is a 2 week detailed training and continuing education program for home inspectors held in Chicago. This course covers all aspects, components and systems of the home.
  • During the summer of 2004, ITA announced that the American Society of Home Inspectors has selected ITA as the first ASHI-endorsed classroom education provider.
  • Calvin has passed the high stakes National Home Inspector’s Examination as well as the American Society of Home Inspectors’ Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics exams.
  • Should you want your home tested for radon, Calvin has successfully completed the National Environmental Health Association’s Radon Proficiency Program and is State certified by the Indiana State Department of Health to perform that monitoring.
